Perhaps your batting eyelashes captured the attention of that boy in French class, but if you plan on wowing 27-year-old Christian Kane, you should get a manicure. For this adorable actor, who plays the mean demon lawyer Lindsey McDonald on the hit series Angel, hands are a girl's most telling feature. "I love how they look and feel-the shape and texture. Everything inside a person comes out in her hands," says the Dallas native. Kane grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and during his senior year at the University of Oklahoma decided to head for Hollywood-in his pickup truck. You can catch him as New Orleans blues musician Billy Ryan in the MTV move Love Song. Next up for this charming cowboy? He's in the TNT movie Crossfire Trail and the flick Summer Catch (pictured right as Dale Robin), both due out later this year.
Some other things you'll want to know about Kane
Why he came to Los Angeles: "For two reasons-to knock Brad Pitt off his pedestal and to marry Jennifer Aniston," he jokes. Though Kane has never met the Friends star, he did see her once. "She walked by when I was pulling into my driveway. I think she has a friend who lives next door, but I didn't dare talk to [Aniston]." Kane's other celeb crushes include Sherilyn Fenn and Natalie Portman.
His bluegrass roots: Playing a musician wasn't a stretch for Kane, who sings in a country-rock band called-what else?-Kane!
Why he likes his Love Song costar, Monica: "She lights up the room," he says. "Monica has one of the best smiles in the world."
His prized possession: "I didn't have a bed for about five years when I moved to L.A. I always slept on a mattress or on the floor. When I started making a little money, I called this company, Archatrive, in Staatsburg, New York, and they made a bed for me by hand. It's my little safe haven."
The actor with whom he's most like to work: George Clooney. "I've followed his career for years. He was brilliant in One Fine Day. I had the opportunity to meet him-it was great because he's the same guy I thought he was."
His hobbies: Besides playing football and riding horses, Kane loves to cook. "I adore sauces; I'll spend an hour making one sauce-it's like therapy for me. I watch the Food Network all the time. Emeril's my favorite guy on TV right now."
